Daily Journal Honors Brian Procel in Top 20 Under 40
The January 18, 2012 edition of the Daily Journal recognized Brian Procel as a leading lawyer in their Top 20 Under 40 list. This prestigious list honors the top 20 lawyers in California under the age of 40 in a variety of different practice areas.
The award highlights Brian’s victories in a broad spectrum of industries and practice areas. Procel secured a great result for his client, SunCal Companies, in a breach of contract claim. After a three-week jury trial, Brian’s client was awarded nearly $5 million in lost profits.
According to Brian, “If you’re going to be a litigator, you have to be able to think on your feet. You have to roll with the punches. During a trial, anything can happen. You have some issues go your way, and some that don’t go your way. You can’t slow down or stop. You have to keep moving forward.”
Brian is an experienced trial attorney who has prosecuted and defended actions in both state and federal court. He has prevailed in complex commercial disputes involving a wide variety of issues, including investor and consumer fraud, lender liability, class actions, intellectual property, entertainment and real estate.
He also heads Miller Barondess’ pro bono department, and has achieved great victories for his clients. In one suit, Brian’s client was being denied coverage, and he filed federal actions against two of the largest insurance carriers in the country. He achieved a very favorable result on behalf of his clients. Brian has received awards from the California State Bar, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Bet Tzedek Legal Foundation for his dedication to pro bono work.
Mr. Procel attended the University of California at Berkley (Boalt Hall) where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2001. He also graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
